My Personal Top Ten Apps

There are a multitude of apps in the market today. Each one caters to a specific interest and each one, unique over the other. There are some which are available for download at a cheap, reasonable price, but most are free for the taking. Below is the breakdown of my top ten favorite apps which is available in the market today:

Top Ten – The Weather Channel Max (http://itunes.apple.com/app/the-weather-channel-max/id316415412?ign-mpt=uo%3D6&mt=8)

This iTune app provides one of the most accurate weather information available because it is run by a staff of 200+ meteorologists, along with their patented ultra-local TruPoint(sm) weather technology which in turn allows us to avail of weather tools needed to help plan our day’s, week’s, or even the next hour’s activities.

Features:

– Interactive maps with animated radar

– 15-minute forecast gives a very detailed look at weather for the next 6 hours

– Hourly and 10-day forecasts

– Pinpoint your location for exact weather conditions

– Push notifications for any one location in your favorites list

– Complete weather coverage in an ad-free environment

– Future Radar TruPoint map shows forecasted precipitation for the next 6 hours

– Video of breaking news and amazing weather coverage

– View and post local weather tweets for your location in the social tab

– Upload and view photos and videos for weather in your area

– Post local weather to your Facebook wall

Top Nine – Comics (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/comics/id303491945?mt=8)

In all honesty, Comics is a little awkward compared to using it on an iPad, but you won’t find a better comics experience on an iPhone. The app is free, as are dozens of downloadable comics – and once you run out of those, many more are available to buy. Reading works on a frame-by-frame automated ‘zoom’ basis, and is surprisingly usable.

Top Eight – TonePad (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tonepad/id315980301?mt=8)

Virtual pianos and guitars are all very well, but purely digital musical toys are more suited to Apple handhelds.

TonePad is the best of them, using a grid-based interface that enables you to turn notes on and off, compose pleasing and harmonious loops and it also allows you to edit, save and upload your creations to other users.

Top Seven – Gun Builder (http://gunbuilderapp.com/)

Imagine being able to build and fully customizing your own guns and firing it. Gun Builder lets you do that and more. This app is available for download on iTunes.

It allows you to assemble your guns from scratch with the huge library of gun parts and accessories. Engrave words like your name or something meaningful to further personalize your gun.

Then you can take your gun out to the firing range. Marvel at the performance of your own gun or go back to the workshop for tweaking. Realistic animations and true to life sounds for all variations of guns and accessories reacting to how you have built it.

Fill up your virtual gun rack with your personal collection of customized guns and be amazed!

Top Six – RunKeeper (http://itunes.apple.com/app/runkeeper/id300235330)

The prospect of Nike+ but better and for free might sound unlikely, but that’s what RunKeeper provides. Previously split into ‘pro’ and ‘free’ versions, the developer now generously includes all the features in one free app.

That means you can spend no money, yet use your iPhone’s GPS capabilities to track your jogging and cycling routes, and examine mapping and details of your pace and calories burned. Activities can be shared online, and treadmill runs and other exercise details can be entered manually.

Top Five – Oovoo (http://www.oovoo.com/home.aspx)

Next to Skype, Oovoo is the next best thing when it comes to instant messaging, chatting, and video call service. It can be downloaded for free on Android, iPhone, Mac, PC, and now even on Facebook! The picture and sound quality on the video calls are also excellent so if you don’t like getting buffers on your video calls, then Oovoo is just around the block!

Top Four – Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-mobile/download/iphone-for-skype/)

I’d say gone are the days that we resort to Messenger for chatting and video calls. With the arrival of Skype, we can now easily make free Skype-to-Skype video calls that are truly clear, and even call phones at really cheap rates.

Features:

– Skype to Skype IMs, video and voice calls are free* over 3G or WiFi whether on an Android, iPhone, Mac or PC.

– Make low-cost calls and SMS to mobiles or landlines from your Android.

– Send pictures, videos and files to any of your contacts conveniently and for free.

– Enjoy high-quality sound when you call anyone else on Skype.

– Talk face to face or show what you’re seeing with front and rear-facing cameras.

Top Three – CamScanner (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intsig.camscanner)

It is a Phone PDF Creator that turns your phone into a scanner and fax. It lets users import various office docs into Android by converting photos into PDF format. Its most useful feature is a batch mode for paging through endless docs and taking photos of each page, which then get auto-cropped and saved in one exciting file. The free version is ad supported, plus there’s a paid release if you want to do away with the banners.

Top Two – Google Drive (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs)

An enhanced version of Google Docs, this Google Drive Android app allows you to store, access, upload your photos, documents, videos and other files stored on your Google Drive on your Android device. It also helps create and edit Google documents with rich text formatting, upload and convert files to the Google Docs format, view your PDFs or presentations, make quick changes to spreadsheets and take a photo of printed text then convert it to a Google document.

Truly, this is one office app that comes in handy!

Top One – Viber (http://www.viber.com/)

Viber is an application that allows users to make “free” phone calls, exchange pictures, and send text messages to anyone that also has the application installed. It can be downloaded for free on iPhone®, Android™, Windows Phone and Blackberry phones.

The reason why this is my top favorite app right now is because all the features that Viber offer are 100% FREE and do not require any additional “in application” purchase. In addition, it allows you to utilize the service anytime and anywhere in the world, and the sound quality of a call in Viber is clear and excellent.

Try it to believe it!

Some of these apps may sound new to you and there are some which you may think deserves to belong in this list. These are my personal picks for now but time and again, I’m pretty sure that even as we speak today, a new and incredible app is already being conceptualized, created and released, and just waiting to be uncovered and be included into someone else’s list of favorite apps.

What about you, can you share your favorite apps?
